HEALTH INSTITUTION OF BINA USADA BALI BACHELOR DEGREE OF NURSING PROGRAM Undergraduate Thesis, February 20th 2021 Ni Putu Ayuni Lestari The Correlation between Family Support and Health Locus of Control with DietaryAdherence in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at X Hospital Denpasar (xvii +103 pages + 10 tables + 2 Pictures + 12appendixes) ABSTRACT Adherence in implementing a diet for diabetes mellitus sufferers is a major component of successful diabetes treatment. Barriers to diet adherence can be caused by several factors, one of them is family support and psychosocial factors, one of them is health locus of control. This study aimed to determine the correlation between family support and health locus of control with dietary adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study used an observational analysis method with a cross-sectional design. This study involved 37 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at X Denpasar Hospital who were selected by purposive sampling technique. Data collection used questionnaires, data analysis consisted of univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyzes. In this study, the Rank Spearman test was conducted to determine the correlation between family support and dietary adherence in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and also to determine the correlation between health locus of control and dietary adherence in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at RS X Denpasar. Data analysis with logistic regression analysis was used to determine the more dominant factors affecting dietary adherence in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at X Hospital Denpasar. This study showed the results of 23 respondents (62.2%) had high family support, as many as 20 respondents (54.1%) had high health locus of control and at most 23 respondents (62.2%) adhered to diet. The Spearman Rank test results obtained p-value = 0.001 and 0.003 (<0.05), it can be concluded that there was a correlation between family support and health locus of control with dietary adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, where family support was more dominant in having dietary adherence. It is recommended to the hospital to maintain compliance with routine control of diabetes mellitus sufferers with curative programs. Hambatan dalam kepatuhan melakukan diet dapat disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yang salah satunya adalah dukungan dari keluarga dan faktor psikosisial salah satunya adalah health locus of control. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan dukungan keluarga dan health locus of control dengan kepatuhan menjalani diet pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis observasional dengan rancangan cross-sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 37 pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di RS X Denpasar yang dipilih dengan teknik sampel purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, analisis data terdiri dari analisis univariat, bivariat dan multivariat. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan uji Rank Spearmanuntuk mengetahui hubungan dukungan keluarga dengan kepatuhan menjalani diet pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 dan mengetahui hubungan health locus of control dengan kepatuhan menjalani diet pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di RS X Denpasar. Analisis data dengan analisis Regresi logistic untuk mengetahui faktor yang lebih dominan mempengaruhi kepatuhan diet pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di RS X Denpasar.Penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil sebanyak 23 responden (62,2%) memiliki dukungan keluarga tinggi, sebanyak 20 responden (54,1%) memiliki health locus of control tinggi dan paling banyak 23 responden (62,2%) patuh menjalani diet. Hasil uji Rank Spearman didapatkan p value = 0,001 dan 0,003 (<0,05), maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada dukungan keluarga dan health locus of control dengan kepatuhan menjalani diet pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2, dimana dukungan keluarga lebih dominan mempunyai hubungan dengan kepatuhan menjalani diet. Disarankan kepada rumah sakit agar mempertahankan kepatuhan kontrol rutin penderita diabetes melitus dengan program kuratif.
