Abstract

Students are aged 18-25 years who undergo higher education for three to four years, culminating in a final thesis or dissertation. The process of preparing a thesis often causes stress due to various challenges, such as repeated revisions, difficulty in finding references, and time constraints in the research process. One effective way to address this stress is through classical music therapy, which provides a relaxing and calming effect. The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of classical music therapy on stress reduction in final-year students. The research design used is a preexperimental one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample in this study consists of 51 final-year students experiencing stress at STIKES Bina Usada Bali, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study is a modified version of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test, yielding a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.005). The results of the study indicate that there is an effect of classical music therapy on reducing stress levels in final-year students during the thesis preparation process at STIKES Bina Usada Bali. Classical music therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological approach to alleviate or reduce stress levels and may serve as a reference in expanding knowledge and applying classical music to stress reduction efforts.
