Abstract
SEKOLAH TINGGI ILMU KESEHATAN BINA USADA BALI PROGRAM STUDI SARJANA KEBIDANAN Undergraduate Thesis, July 2026 Riska Mulyana The Relationship Between Baby Massage and the Recovery of Sleep Patterns in Infants Experiencing Sleep Regression XIV + 69 pages + 7 tables + 3 figures + 14 appendices ABSTRACT Sleep disturbances in infants may affect their physical, cognitive, and emotional development and can ultimately reduce their quality of life. One non-pharmacological intervention to overcome sleep disturbances is baby massage. This study aimed to determine the relationship between baby massage and the recovery of sleep patterns in infants experiencing sleep regression. This study employed a pre-experimental research design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted from May 27 to June 30, 2026, involving 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed that before the baby massage intervention, most infants had poor sleep patterns, with 26 infants (86.7%). After the intervention, most infants demonstrated good sleep patterns, with 26 infants (86.7%). The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test yielded a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant relationship between baby massage and the recovery of sleep patterns in infants experiencing sleep regression. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for midwives in providing baby massage as an intervention to improve infants' sleep patterns.
