Abstract

HIV and AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) and Unwanted Pregnancy are the effects of a lack of reproductive health education. Adolescents are the most vulnerable group to experience the three problems above therefore comprehensive information related to reproductive health is needed with more varied educational methods. In increasing knowledge in adolescents needed more varied methods than conventional ones which are often used, such as counseling. In this study, a program was formed, namely KADEK SUSI (Reproductive Health Aware Youth Cadre) which combines the peer educator method with GenRe (Planned Generation) material in increasing respondents' knowledge. This study compared knowledge level of respondents before and after the intervention of KADEK SUSI (Reproductive Health Aware Youth Cadre). This study was a quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. Before the intervention was given, the respondent's knowledge level was measured using a knowledge level questionnaire, then the intervention was given and the knowledge level was measured again after the intervention was given. The intervention was given once a week for four meetings with a time of 45 minutes. KADEK SUSI intervention increased the knowledge of respondents at PIKR SMPN 2 Mengwi, the average value of respondents showed an increase after being given the intervention, from 2.71 to 3.00 with a p-value = 0.000 obtained through the Wilcoxon test. It could be concluded that KADEK SUSI had an effect on increasing respondents' knowledge of reproductive health, therefore this study can be used as a reference or guideline in increasing adolescents’ knowledge related to reproductive health and serve as additional literature
