SEKOLAH TINGGI ILMU KESEHATAN BINA USADA BALI BACHELOR DEGREE OF MIDWIFERY Undergraduate Thesis, June 2025 Margareta Okta Kus Astuti The Effect of Endorphin Massage and Sandalwood Aromatherapy on Anxiety Levels in Third Trimester Pregnant Women Facing Labor at RSU Permata Hati Klungkung xiii + 53 pages + 5 tables + 2 diagrams + 9 appendices ABSTRACT Pregnancy is a natural process that can cause both physiological and psychological changes in women due to hormonal fluctuations. One psychological change commonly experienced is anxiety, particularly in the third trimester as labor approaches. This study aimed to determine the effect of endorphin massage and sandalwood aromatherapy on anxiety levels in third-trimester pregnant women facing labor at RSU Permata Hati Klungkung. This study involved an intervention with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of 34 participants, divided into two groups: 17 in the treatment group and 17 in the control group, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U Test to examine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Based on the data analysis, the post-test anxiety score mean in the treatment group was 12.29, lower than the control group’s mean of 22.71, with a mean difference of 10.42. The p-value obtained was 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. This means that endorphin massage combined with sandalwood aromatherapy significantly affects the anxiety levels of third-trimester pregnant women facing labor at RSU Permata Hati Klungkung.
