Abstract
BINA USADA BALI HEALTH INSTITUTION BACHELOR DEGREE OF MIDWIFERY AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM Undergraduate Thesis, January 2025 I Gusti Ayu Trisna Ambara Dewi The Combination between Effleurage Massage and Classical Music Therapy of the First Active Phase for Labor Pain in Udayana University Hospital (xvii Pages + 75 Pages + 6 Tables + 6 Figures + 14 Appendices) ABSTRACT Pain is a part that is always present in the birthing process. If you do not receive appropriate treatment when experiencing pain, it will increase the level of morbidity during childbirth. Pain during labor leads to longer labor because it induces uncoordinated uterine activity. Non-pharmacological techniques like effleurage massage and classical music therapy can ease labor pain by calming the pelvic muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The purpose of the study was to ascertain if effleurage massage and classical music therapy could effectively treat labor pain during the first active phase in Udayana University Hospital. Quasi-experimental research design with a nonequivalent control group with a non-probability sampling technique, namely accidental sampling with a total of 40 respondents who were divided into 20 treatment groups with a combination of effleurage massage and classical music therapy and 20 control groups given no treatment. The analysis used was the Wilcoxon sign rank test and the Mann-Whitney test. The analysis of labor pain in the first active phase following the combination of classical music therapy and effleurage massage revealed a p-value of 0.000 <0.05, indicating that the combination of these two therapies had an impact on labor pain in the first active phase in Udayana University Hospital. To lessen labor discomfort during the first active phase, expectant women who are getting ready for delivery should employ a mix of classical music therapy and effleurage massage.
