Abstract
Elderly is the final stage of the human development cycle and experiences many changes, one of which is decreased vision, decreased hearing, skin begins to wrinkle, hair begins to change color, poverty, successive failures, or conflicts with family or children. Living conditions like these can trigger stress. The impact of stress experienced by the elderly is sleep disturbances, including insomnia. This study aims to determine the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Abiansemal III. The research was carried out with a quantitative design with an analytic observational design with a cross sectional approach. In 78 respondents with purposive sampling. Data was collected using The Perceived Stress Scale questionnaire and the KSPBJ - IRS questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Spearman`s rho test. The results showed that most of them experienced moderate stress as many as 34 people (43.6%) and most of the elderly experienced mild insomnia, as many as 44 people (56.4%). Analysis of the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly obtained p <0.014. There is a relationship between stress levels and the incidence of insomnia in the elderly in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Abiansemal III. It is hoped that this research recommendation will become input for nursing services in order to improve the quality of health services regarding elderly health in minimizing the impact of stress on the elderly so as to prevent the incidence of insomnia.
