Abstract
HIGH SCHOOL OF NURSING SCIENCE BINA USADA BALI UNDERGRADUATE NURSING STUDY PROGRAM Undergraduate thesis, May 2025 Ni Made Susantiani The Effect of Foot Massage on Ankle Brachial Index Values in Type 2 DM Patients in the Dahlia Room at Tabanan Hospital XIV + 66+ 10 tables + 3 schemes + 12 attachments ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus disease has macrovascular complications, namely peripheral arterial disease, which can be known by measuring the value of the ankle brachial index. The treatment that can be given so that the ankle brachial index value is normal with foot massage. This study aims to determine the effect of foot massage on the value of ankle brachial index in patients with type 2 DM in the Dahlia Room of Tabanan Hospital. The research was carried out with the design used was pre-test and post-test one group design which was carried out from February to March 2025 with a total sample of 29 respondents selected by purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using a digital sphygmomanometer. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon sign-rank test. The results showed the value of the ankle brachial index before being given a foot massage with an average of 0.83 and the value of the ankle brachial index after being given a foot massage with an average of 1.03. the effect of foot massage on the value of the ankle brachial index in patients with type 2 DM obtained p value <0.001, so it can be said that there is an effect of foot massage on the value of the ankle brachial index in patients with type 2 DM in the Dahlia Room of Tabanan Hospital. The recommendations of this study are expected to be input for nurses to always provide foot massage to patients with diabetes mellitus to prevent macrovascular complications.
