Abstract
AV Shunt and Catheter Double Lument (CDL) vascular access are required during hemodialysis. The choice of vascular access can provide comfort to patients who undergo it so that it has an impact on the patient's quality of life. This study aims to compare the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis based on vascular access in the Hemodialysis Room of Mangusada Hospital. The study was conducted with an unpaired categorical comparative analytical observational design with a cross sectional approach conducted from February to March 2024 with a total sample of 72 respondents selected by consecutive sampling technique. Data were collected using vascular access observation sheet and WHOQOL-BREF quality of life questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the mann whitney test. The results showed that a higher good quality of life was shown in hemodialysis patients who used AV Shunt vascular access as much as 77.8% while those who used CDL vascular access with a moderate majority quality of life as much as 83.3%. Comparative analysis of the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis based on vascular access obtained a p value of 0.001, so it can be said that there is a difference in the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis based on AV Shunt and CDL vascular access in the Mangusada Hospital Hemodialysis Room.The recommendations of this study are expected to be input for nurses to always provide innovative education to hemodialysis patients in choosing vascular access so that the patient's quality of life is good.
